Opposition

When a conflicting mark is published, there is usually a short period in which you can oppose it. We help you decide whether to act, and arrange the work through our partners in the country concerned.

About this service

The time to oppose is set by each country. It is short, and in many places it cannot be extended. The same is true the other way round: if someone opposes your own application, the time to answer is short too. Tell us as soon as you hear of a publication or receive a notice.

What is included

  • A review of the published mark and of your earlier rights
  • Our view on the chances and the cost, in writing, before you decide
  • The filing and the reasoning, prepared by a partner in the country, with us as your single contact
  • Help on the other side too: if your own application is opposed, we review the notice and arrange the reply

How it works

  1. Tell usDescribe what you have and what you want to achieve, and in which countries.
  2. We lookA specialist studies your case, with a local partner where the work is in another country.
  3. We reportYou get our findings and a plain-language recommendation, with a written quote for the next step.
  4. You decideNothing is filed or charged without your approval. We carry out what you decide.

We cannot promise the outcome of an opposition. Our fee and the partner's fee come in one written quote, and nothing starts before you approve it. See also Trademark Disputes.
